Preparing for Rocket's arrival
Opening Friday 22 June
We’re working full steam ahead to welcome a series of ground-breaking exhibits and temporary displays, including Robert Stephenson’s iconic steam locomotive Rocket, as one of the headline venues on the Get North Innovation Trail, running from 22 June - 9 September as part of Great Exhibition of the North.
During this time we ask you to use our alternative entrance which is located 50m down the side of the museum, next to the Challenger 2 tank.
We’ll be closed to the general public at key times during the installation of exhibits and galleries, and for the duration of key displays.
From 23 - 28 June the Archives Search Room will not be delivering its usual service. During this time this space will be the home to an exciting visiting display, the
Blue Peter Millennium Time Capsule.
