Reopening update

As our region has been placed in Coronavirus Tier 3, we will remain closed until the government announces that we can move to Tier 2 or other changes are made to the rules.

Tyne & Wear Archives searchroom remains closed to the public. Following Government instructions we are not able to reopen the archives searchroom in the autumn as planned. We continue to put new systems and procedures in place and, providing restrictions are eased, we will reopen in early January 2021.

In the meantime we will continue to respond to enquiries, accept new copying orders and paid research requests, and provide access to some of our collections through our popular social media channels - facebook, twitter, flickr.
